I can't update through my WordPress dashboard updates

When there is a new version update available, you will be prompt in your WordPress dashboard to carry out the update. You may encounter error, failure to update or the message "An error occurred while updating. Download Failed. Forbidden". This documentation discuss the scenario and the steps for rectifying the problem.

There are two reason why this is happening.

  1. Your license key has expired.
  2. You recently renew the license but the download permission is not updated for your account.
